On December 22, George Belmore was up bright and early making his famous popovers. Breakfast guests of
Ferlene and George that morning were, Barb Parkin, Carolyn and Darrell Anderson and Geri Burros. There is
nothing like popovers right from the oven, spread with Honey Butter! !
Christmas guests of Geri Burros were, Graig Jacobson, his fiancee, Becca Dykstra and Kendra, Jillian, and
Gaven. They were in Evansville from December 23-27, which gave the children lots of time for sledding. They don’t
have hills like ours in Rock Valley, IA!
Geri Burros celebrated a second Christmas in Sioux City, IA on Jan. 1, at the home of Galea Jacobson and
Nathan. Other guests were, Travis and Bobbi Klemme, Devyn and Jettsyn, Sioux City, Adam Simoni, Spartanburg,

them. The Wencls came over to Sheri’s for supper and gift opening. But they left early as the streets were so icy
from the storm. Christmas Day, they all got together at the Wencl’s in Ham Lake. Douglas Wencl was home from
school in Fargo and Jeffrey from Norfolk, VA. Sheri drove Alvin and Marian and Marlys Paulson (who had been
visiting Kenny Paulson) back to Evansville on Dec. 26. They drove through a terrible white out by Clear Lake and
were glad to get home. .

Layne Johnson, Evansville, Dallas and Hannah Bordson, Rachel Aasness and Jesse Anderson ofAlexandria.

has been up to her old tricks preparing a lot of delicious meals for her family.
Guest of Jan and Lyle Olson on New Years Day were Jason Olson, Ashley, and their baby Elizabeth. They were all
guests of Julie and Terry Aasness and family for dinner. The word is, Julie has inherited her mother’s kitchen

Minneapolis on Thursday and found out he had missed kraut and sausage on Tuesday evening and waffles on
Wednesday, he really complained!
Evening dinner guests of Lyle and Jan on January 12, were Chris and Gretchen Olson and Layne. It seems, Great
Grandpa Lyle and Layne had a lot of playing to catch up on.

Back to news about town. Allen and Karen Howell and Dale and Corrine Stinton decided this was the year for
them to spend a month of the winter in FL. They left shortly after Christmas. Of course, this is the year the south
had unseasonably cold temperatures so it was too cold to enjoy the outdoors for awhile. In fact, they reported that
the tropical fish were slowly dying. The beach at Sanibel Island was closed one day to clean up the fish on the
beaches that had died and were brought in by the tide. The last word received though was that the temperature
was back up to 70 degrees and they’d finally gotten out the shorts and tee shirts .
